From the foreground, the irregular pothole with a dark, exposed fill anchors the composition. Since its acquisition in January 2026, the work has anchored the Torresdale Avenue streetscape as a record of recurrent wear. The shadows of bare trees sweep across the asphalt, fragmenting the surface and foregrounding maintenance as a constant, material process.
