Curatorial note
Seen at the Birch and Emerald intersection, a circular pothole with a rubble-filled interior anchors the street surface. Since acquisition in January 2026, it has occupied this curb edge, its surround showing a lighter wash and loose aggregate. Commissioned by Streets Department, the work preserves a moment of long-term surface condition within the Philadelphia collection.
