Curatorial note

Crossing Rails at Brown Street, North Philadelphia anchors a curbside scene where two parallel rails traverse the roadway. The bright red fire hydrant at the corner provides a vertical counterpoint to the extensive patchwork and cracks that line the asphalt, recording years of municipal maintenance. Commissioned by the Streets Department, this work preserves a longitudinal trace of infrastructure within the North Philadelphia streetscape.
