Curatorial note
Seen at midday, the dented rear quarter panel of the Passat settles into the curbside frame along Mercer Street, its scarred surface catching the light. Since January 2026, this vehicle has occupied the same curbside position, becoming a durable feature of the Richmond streetscape. The work's weathered bumper and exposed steel wheel articulate a material memory of accumulation and exposure, marking it as a persistently static presence within the neighborhood.
